Tax Accountant (1)
Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited (MLTL) invites applications from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the following position.
Role & Responsibilities
- Ensure the Company complies with all applicable Tanzania tax laws, regulations and statutory requirements including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, SDL and withholding Taxes.
- Monitor changes in Tax legislation and assess their impact on the Company.
- Prepare, review and ensure timely filing of all monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns within stipulated deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records and reconciliations to support filed returns.
- Take lead responsibility in all tax audits, inspections and assessments conducted by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).
- Prepare and submit VAT input tax refund claims on timely basis.
- Prepare audit responses, support schedules or document and handle ad hoc tax queries from TRA.
- Prepare draft annual income tax computations and returns for review and filing.
- Ensure accurate treatment of deductible expenses, capital allowances and deferred tax.
- Liaison with company Tax Consultants on any tax matters that require consultation.
- Prepare and review withholding tax schedules and returns.
- Support finance team during month-end and year-end close on tax-related matters.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance.
- Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in tax accounting or taxation.
- Certified Professional Registered with the National Board of Accountant and Auditors.
- Computer skills specifically in application software (MS Word/ Power Point and Excel).
- Good Communication skills.
Reporting
- The incumbent will report directly to Finance & Treasury Manager on day-to-day activities.
