Leaf Buying Coordinator
(Mpanda, Chunya, Songea)
Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited (MLTL) invites applications from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the following position. To control and supervise buying activities ensuring that they are in line with the Company’s buying strategy and to be fully accountable for the buying teams in the Southern Zone
- Carries out random visits to farmers to conduct crop assessments in the southern zone, collects information, tobacco samples for crop quality prospects and submits results to the Leaf Buying Operations Manager
- Establishes with Leaf Team the tobacco quality standard and green samples for the season.
- To supervise southern zone’s buying team activities
- To allocate personnel markets placement based on shared weekly buying plan
- Assist with coordinating markets planning with Agronomy
- To enforce discipline to direct subordinates
- To monitor and ensure that stake holders observe laid down market procedures and regulations
- To ensures that tobacco purchased conforms to MLTL standards in terms of price, grading, presentation, moisture content and NTRM
- Verify tobacco purchases against, national awarded national grades
- Liaise with classification personnel to verify national bought grades against in-house classified grades
- Prepare weekly verification report
- To conduct regular training and development to buyers in maintaining high buying standards
Qualifications & Experience
- Form 6, Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Business Administration, Marketing or any other related field.
- Not less than 10 years’ experience in the Tobacco Industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory position in Leaf Operations including Buying, Classification and Blending supervision.
- High Level of Integrity
Base & Reporting
The job incumbent will be based in Mpanda and will travel extensively in the Sothern Zone especially between Mpanda and Lupa-Chunya and will directly be reporting to the Leaf Operations Buying Manager.
Additional Requirements
- A valid motorbike driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites.
- Willingness to live and work in remote areas.
