Senior Incharge Nurse-Midwife

Songambele Health Centre is located in Bariadi District Council and bas been providing health services since 1996. The centre is a not-for-profit Faith Based Organization with a capacity of 65 beds. Among the major health services provided are: primary health care services, comprehensive emergency obstetric newborn care services, HIV services and nutrition services.

The Senior Charge Nurse-Midwife will be responsible of the provision of quality health care assistance for patients within the health centre. He/She will be responsible of the supervision of nursing staff in accordance with their level of training and the patient’s acuity. He/She will offer guidance and support, maintain a clean and safe working environment and ensure that all operational tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
  
Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Provide safe and quality nursing care to patients
• Plan and implement nursing care plan for patients in accordance with national guidelines and scientific evidence
• Provide safe and effective environment
• Coordinate daily duties, including schedules, nursing assignment and patient care
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff
• Oversee patients admissions, transfers and discharge
• Collaborate and work constructively and harmoniously with medical doctors, medical director, management team an all the staff of the centre in order to ensure patients receive optimal care
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
• Support in the record and maintenance of  accurate reports
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

  
Qualifications, experiences and competencies

• BSc Nursing/Midwifery
• Registered Nurse/Midwife
• A minimum of 10 years of working experience in clinical setting and a minimum of  5 years of recent charge nurse experience
• Good writing, computer and communication skills.
• Excellent Leadership,  communication and organizational skills
• Good writing, computer and communication skills.
• Enthusiasm, proactive attitude, problem- solving attitude and flexibility.
